Jog-a-thon

Many hands make light work, they say.  But in this case it's many feet.  How many people does it take to raise money for PTA programs and events?  It takes all of us, and when we do a good job we all win.  Our fundraising goal this year is $17,000 which will fund all major programs and events, provide support for Leader in Me fees and program needs at the school, and bring in Pacific Science Center's mobile van program.

Here's how it works.  Students collect sponsorship pledges from family, friends, and neighbors they know before the event either as a flat rate on a per lap basis, and then participate in a cooperative day of exercise, music and fun.  Families are invited to cheer on the sidelines or run with the kids.  It's a great way to kick off the school year. 

Volunteers are needed to:

  • Help organize leading up to the event.
  • Be a cheerleader, count laps, serve refreshments, set up and clean up on the day.
  • Count donations in the weeks following.  

Work a shift, the whole day, behind the scenes before and/or after.  

The Jog-a-thon has proven to be a very successful and enjoyable fundraiser, bringing in over $17,000 each year.  Many helping hands keep the workload manageable for all.
